College! | September 1, 2023 (Fri) 23:21 Post No. 22
College is so much fun! I moved into college last Sunday, and this past week has been the most fun week of my life. I've met so many amazing people and I've already made so many great friends.
On Monday and Tuesday, we went out on an overnight camping trip. We went out to the Deleware river and went tubing and rafting. We had a campfire and we made our own dinner. Six of us had to sleep in a tiny four-person tent Charlie and the Chocolate Facotry style, shoulder to shoulder to shoulder to shoulder, so I really got to know my groupmates haha. Since then, I've been staying up late every night hanging out with my friends. We've been playing cards, exploring the city, and partying every night. (although the freshmen parties have been really lame haha. I went to the parties the first few nights but the parties were always just had too many people trying to squish into tiny-ass poorly-ventilated double dorms and everyone there was a "frat-boy" or an ABG or a basic white girl...).
But exploring the city with my new friends and talking together in the dorms has been so much fun. I suppose I knew coming into college in NYC that there would be so much to do, but it really feels like there's an endless amount of fun things to do and good places to eat at. Being in a city is so amazing. Last night, my friends and I really wanted to eat out at midnight, so we just went out and grabbed pizza! 🙀 Back in the suburbs, nothing would have even been open past 9...
It's so true what "they" say... college is a four-year long sleepover... and it's so much fun!
Oiled Up Korean Foot Massage | July 9, 2023 (Sun) 23:21 Post No. 21
I just got an oiled up Korean deep-tissue foot massage!!!
This past week and a half, I’ve been in Korea with my family for vacation. We visited Seoul, Busan, and we are currently on Jeju Island, a small island south of the main Korean peninsula. Despite being half-Korean, this is my first time in Korea! I’ve been having so much fun and I’ve learned so much. I’ve also eaten so much good food... my stomach just about exploded three or four times from overeating and I feel like I've gained about 15 pounds...
Anyways, today was our third day in Jeju, and went all around the Island… We visited a light museum, watched a Korean version of Medieval times, ate cakes and drank tea at a cafe, and went to a foot spa! 🙀 Apparently, my dad just let a family friend who had been to Jeju before plan our Jeju trip and she thought we would enjoy going to a foot spa after all the walking we did… 😭
At the spa, they served us toast and tea and gave us back massages while we soaked our feet in little baths filled with warm water and a pine needle powder. Then after scrubbing our feet clean with some salt, they gave us our foot massages. The lady giving me my foot massage looked about college-aged and she knew basic English so she was able to talk to me. As soon as she started rubbing the massage oil on my feet I knew I was done for... It was so ticklish; I couldn't stop laughing... The lady kept telling me to relax my feet but the more she rubbed them, the harder it was to relax... And every time I looked up, she was laughing that I was laughing which made me laugh more... But she really gave my feet a massage! She rubbed all in between my toes and even massaged my calves and ankles!
That foot massage was one of the longest ten minutes of my life, but in the end my feet felt so clean and refreshed! My muscles felt so loose and the tiredness from all the walking I did all went away. My feet felt so minty fresh and were the smoothest they've been since I was a baby... Just look how smooth and supple they look! ------ >
I definitely recommend getting a foot massage if you ever visit Jeju Island!
My Favorite Animal | June 14, 2023 (Wed) 10:10 Post No. 20
I got a question in my guestbook this morning from "willyfan" asking me what my favorite animal was.
Thank you for the question willyfan! I actually had a conversation with a friend about this very topic only a couple days ago. I think my favorite animal, and the animal I would choose to become given the choice, is a cat! (=^・ェ・^=))ノ彡☆
Cats are so silly! They just sleep and roll around in the sun all day without a care in the world. Plus, cats are the perfect blend of "can do anything they want but chooses not to". They are able to jump 5 to 6 times their own height, can climb trees easily, are flexible enough to lick their own balls, and have night vision! And yet they spend over half of their day sleeping! Having my biggest worry in life be finding the coziest place to nap is my ultimate fantasy!
Thank you again, willyfan, for the question and feel free to ask me more questions in my guestbook and I will answer them in my blog! ^.^
Donating Blood | May 23, 2023 (Tue) 18:00 Post No. 18
On May 15th, I donated blood at school. The Red Cross came to our school so I decided to stop by during lunch. But when the nurse was drawing blood from me, she had a very difficult time finding my vein. She kept poking around my arm with the needle and wiggling it around to try to find the right spot... It was one of the most uncomfortable few minutes of my life... In the end, she wasn't even able to draw a full bag of blood and just gave up and told me "thank you." After I walked out of the blood donation center, my arm swelled up until it was almost double in diameter of my other arm...
I didn't really think much of this experience, hence I didn't blog about it, but it's been over a week now and there's still a giant bruise... I don't know... Should I go see a doctor or something...? Regardless, I thought it was interesting enough to share on my blog lol
おばあちゃん | May 23, 2023 (Tue) 10:10 Post No. 17
I'm going to Virginia this Friday. It's for my grandma's funeral. She passed away almost a year ago, but she's just been sitting cremated in my living room since then. But thinking about her upcoming funeral brought back a lot of memories and made me think a bit.
She was a truly exceptional woman; she went to college in Japan when women getting a higher education was looked down on. She was willing to move to America without knowing a lick of English, and she brought happiness to everyone around her. She was also the most extroverted person I knew; every time we went out, she would make at least one new friend... I wish even an ounce of her extroversion trickled down to me... Even in her old age, she was such a youthful person, always full of energy. But in the blink of an eye, her dementia turned her into a completely different person. It's sad to think how fast life could change and inevitably end.
My grandma really was one of the most important and influential people in my life. I'm sure most grandparents are, to most grandchildren, one of the most important people in their lives, but she really did have a profound influence on my life. Even in her passing, she helped me get into college (click to read).
I don't know... I know this is really generic, but I think all this thinking has made me realize that I shouldn't take anything I have for granted... I know I'm still young, but I should appreciate the people I have in my life more... Ugh... writing that out felt so sappy... But then again, maybe these types of sappy messages are told to us over and over again for a good reason...
Prom | May 20, 2023 (Sat) 16:38 Post No. 16
Prom was a success! I had a lot of fun with Mia and my friends! Overall, I'd rate it a 😁👍 out of 10.
The DJ was kinda wacky tho... at one point, he was playing a club remix of Lana Del Rey which I thought was kinda funny. Also he didn't play any slow songs at a prom???
Anyways, afterwards, we went back to one of Mia's friend's houses, but by then I just wanted to go to sleep... when I finally got home, I collapsed from exhaustion and slept till the afternoon. Overall, it was a great time!
Anyways, sorry that my blog entries have been kind of bland recently, I've been wanting to blog about a lot more but I can't because ceratin people IRL will read it haha.
Second-Semester Senior | May 18, 2023 (Thu) 12:34 Post No. 15
School has been really fun recently. Now that APs are over, I don't have a single class now where I'm actively learning in anymore, and I don't have any final exams I have to study for. Every day I just go to school to watch movies, hang out with my friends, and browse the internet! I'm actually excited to come to school every day because I know I have such an exciting day of doing nothing ahead of me!
Anyways, tomorrow is the prom! I'll definitely post something about it after it happens, so keep your eyes peeled! 😸
AP Blogging | May 11, 2023 (Thu) 10:10 Post No. 14
Wooooo! I just finished the last AP test of my whole life!!! To be honest, these were the least stressful APs of my entire highschool career and some of them were even kind of fun. AP Lang was really fun since I got to write about The Hobbit and 12 Angry Men. Anyways, here are my score predictions:
- AP Capstone: Research - 4
- AP Calc BC - 3 (AB subscore of 4)
- AP Lang - 5 (perfect score)
- AP Physics C: Mechanics - 5
Peng-winning! | Apr. 23, 2023 (Sun) 1:23 Post No. 13
One post in the past month... I've been slacking... oops!
So what have I been up to? Well, I'm going to prom with Mia! Yipee!!! 🤗 On Friday, we went out for ice cream and then I promposed to her and then we watched Superbad together. This was one of the reasons I haven't posted in a while... I've been wanting to blog about my plans to prompose to her but I couldn't because she's probably the most loyal reader this blog has...lol. Anyways, she's really nice and funny and fun to hang out with, so I'm really happy right now :)
On another note... I'm facing a major dilemma right now. I have to choose my housing option for college next year and I can't decide if I want a double or a single... I know for a fact I'll love having my own room, but I feel like I "should" get a double so I can make friends and "live up the college experience" and not just be a recluse like I am now...
Anyways... sorry for the long hiatus, I'll for sure be posting more often in these upcoming weeks and months! :D
Catfishing ^3^ | Apr. 4, 2023 (Tue) 12:12 Post No. 12
My delusions are getting worse... Last night I had an extremely vivid dream that all my teeth were falling out! It felt so real- I had to spend a few minutes after I woke up making sure I still had all my teeth in my mouth... And last week I had a similar dream where my skin started peeling all away... Is this a sign of something??? What does this mean???
Anyways... recently I've been getting a ton of unsolicited DMs on Discord from weird people... I think it's because I have a really femenine looking profile... And the people who have been messaging me are all the same... they find me in a big public server, then message me under the guise of "wanting a friend to chat with" then try to get me to video call them (in the hopes of having e-sex). I can't believe how abrasively gross some people can be... It's kind of fun to be honest though; I always tell them that I need them to buy me nitro because "my bandwidth isn't good enough" but they always seem to come from some third world country where a month of nitro is like a week's worth of salary for them... Anyways... it's really fun messing with these losers. And I hope they all fall in love with me so they can get their hearts broken :3
Apple and Dumplings | Mar. 18, 2023 (Sat) 13:13 Post No. 11
I've spent the last few days in my bed because I was sick. I watched all of Alice in Borderland because Apple recommended it to me, and we had a few conversations about the show. I can't tell if things are going well between us or not... She takes a long time to respond and our conversations don't really last that long... but she also mentioned me to her mom?? I told her I was learning to cook and she said her mom wants to try my Japanese food once I perfect it... which means she must have told her mom that I was Japanese... so idek anymore... I'm probably just overthinking things... but then again, when have my delusions ever been wrong?
I think I'm just gonna give up on her tho bc this is getting annoying af and it's taking up too much of my time 😭
On another note, in my continued effort of learning to cook, I made some dumplings and egg-fish pankcake things? idk what they are called in English, but they were yummy :)
Fried Rice | Mar. 15, 2023 (Wed) 8:48 Post No. 10
I broke my fast again yesterday because I had a burning desire to cook. Lately during school, I've been watching a lot of cooking youtube, and it's inspired me to learn how to cook.
The first recipe I tried to make was Korean spam and kimchi fried rice... except there weren't a lot of vegetables in my fridge, and I only realized midway through cooking it that we had run out of gochujang, which is one of the main ingredients... So I kinda just threw in whatever random ingredients I could find and concocted some funny tasting sauce with the random sauces I could find in the fridge lol. It tasted alright in the end, but it wasn't anything to really brag about.
Anyways, I've been going through a lot more youtube videos and reading through a Japanese cookbook that my grandpa had sent to me a while ago, so I think I'll be cooking a lot more in the near future... I think I'm going to try making a soup next. Maybe I'll create a section on this blog for my cooking... If you have any recommendations for things I should make, let me know! 。^‿^。
Weight Loss | Mar. 13, 2023 (Mon) 1:23 Post No. 9
Recently, I went on a 100+ hour long fast. I didn't even have any gum or juice. All I had was water. Originally, my plan was to go 10 days without eating; I've heard humans can go roughly three weeks without eating anything before they die, so I figured going 10 days wouldn't be too hard. But around the 115th hour, I started feeling really dizzy, then tried to walk up a single flight of stairs and almost threw up (except there was nothing in my body to throw up). I was probably malnourished or something, so I went back downstairs and ate a 6 inch Italian sub and some chili. Then the next day, I went wild, eating absolutely everything I could get my hands on. By the end of the day, I felt like I was going to throw up from how stuffed I was. Anyways, I guess I'll list off some of the positive and negative things I experienced during my 100+ hour fast.
Positives
- I lost about 10 pounds
- I started at around 161 pounds, then ended at 151.
- It wasn't that hard
- The only times I ever really got the urge to eat was when I walked into the kitchen and there was food on the table. I think if I didn't start feeling dizzy and almost throw up I probably could've gone another few days.
- I didn't feel fatigued or unenergized
- I think this is probably because I just stay in my room all day, but I never really felt too weak or too unmotivated to do anything.
- Can't eat as much
- My stomach must have shrunk, because after breaking the fast, I couldn't eat nearly as much as I normally would have been able to eat. I tried to eat how I would normally eat for one day, and I thought I was going to explode from how full I was.
Everything's Breaking | Mar. 10, 2023 (Fri) 14:37 Post No. 8
Everything is breaking down! This morning on my drive to school, I got into a pretty bad car crash. I was crossing an intersection when I got hit perpendicularly towards the front of the car. The car got damaged pretty badly, but luckily I have good insurance so the damage shouldn't be too bad. The crash was definitely my fault. I had a stop sign, but something like this happened. Thankfully, nobody was seriously hurt though.
On a lighter note, the table finally broke yesterday. It was a bit anticlimactic to be honest, since rather than the table completely collapsing, one of the legs just fell off. But it was still funny nonetheless. Here's a picture of the table with it standing on three legs. Since the table had been wobbling for quite a while, the teacher didn't seem too upset. For some reason she had a hot glue gun at her desk, so next class we will try to reattach the leg back onto the table.
Apple Update | Mar. 3, 2023 (Fri) 13:13 Post No. 7
Update on Apple: I messaged our mutual friend, and she said Apple would go with me to prom. ??? IDK what she said to Apple, but uhhhh... So now's the hard part - actually messaging her... Now I gotta actually think of how to message her... bruhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh why does this have to be so hard!?!?!? It's not even like she's very active on instagram so I can't just respond to one of her stories or something...
bruhbruhbruhbruhbruh...........
Robotics Club | Mar. 3, 2023 (Fri) 8:28 Post No. 6
Yesterday, I went to my first robotics club meeting. I'm not actually part of the club, but two of my friends are officers and they wanted me to come.First off, the smell is absolutely insane! As soon as I walked into the building my nose was engulfed in a toxic cloud of body odor. The teacher even made an announcement at the start of the meeting about how the members need to improve their personal hygiene. 💀 Although I guess I shouldn't really be too surprised considering the fact that it was all the nerdiest kids on campus packed into one unventilated room... but I bet if MIT had a smell test as part of their application, that room would've smelled like roses lol.
Anyways, I spent about half the time hanging out with my sister and her freshmen friends. It was fun, but to be honest, the freshmen did not have to be there at all - despite being on the programming team, none of them have written a single line of code for the robot. I ordered Wendy's for them and myself, then we spent a couple more hours dicking around with a label maker and playing soccer in the hallways. And I also discovered why my sister spends 10 hours a week in robotics even though she always complains about how much she hates it. My sister and her boyfriend literally hid behind some chairs to cuddle the entire meeting.
To end things on a good note, when I got home, I watched a couple episodes of a k-drama then went to bed at 9 PM. I woke up at around 6 AM which means I got 9 hours of sleep. 🙀 Junior year me would've cried of happiness lol.
Love Quest Update | Mar. 1, 2023 (Wed) 13:18 Post No. 5
On Monday, my friend Urmi told me that they had a friend who was looking for a prom date. According to Urmi, her friend was looking for "a hot asian guy that's into k-pop and anime" so she referred me... Hmmm... I don't really know what to think about that but I'll take whatever I can get I guess... She messaged me that night and we talked a bit over text, mainly about school. I texted her again last night, this time about k-pop and food.To be honest, the conversations were a bit dull, but maybe they'll pick up once we get to know each other a bit more. Through my talks with Urmi and my conversations with her, I kinda get the sense that she's a no-spice, pure vanilla type of girl; she seems really sheltered and like a perfect-child-type at all (she even pays for Crunchyroll instead of streaming anime off of shady sites). idk... maybe my first impression of her could be wrong, but as of now I don't really see anything happening between us.
On another note, I made the first (half) move with the girl from the other day (I'll call her Apple). I asked our mutual friend to bring me up in conversation and see what Apple says...
One last thing... I've had a straight perm for almost a year now and to be honest, my permed hair looks really bad. I was on FaceTime with my ex and they basically begged me to go back to my old hair, so I scheduled an appointment with my hairdresser yesterday to get it all cut off. My rizz levels will be through the roof after my haircut.🤑
Tired Tuesday | Feb. 21, 2023 (Tue) 10:01 | Post No. 4
I stayed up until 6:00 AM last night because I started reading some Junji Ito manga. I finally decided to give them a try after having several of his books sitting unread on my bookshelf for months, and I could not put them down. I read through about 6 of his stories, including Lovesickness and they were all amazing. Junji Ito's illustrations are genuinely terrifying and the stories are so damn suspensful. Luckily, my dad has 9 of Ito's books/anthologies in English and I have two of his books in Japanese, so I still have a lot more Junji Ito I can read.On another note, eariler today while I was taking a physics quiz, I did a lot of thinking about an elementry school crush (because what else would I think about during a physics quiz). There was a girl in my fourth grade class that I had a massive crush on... She was reallly kind and cute and she was the only other Japanese kid in my school. I forget exactly how things went, but I remember one day she let slip to some of her friends that she liked me. Fourth grade me must have been an extreme wuss because I didn't ever tell her I liked her back.
After fourth grade, we stopped talking and now we go to different schools (but still live in the same town), so I haven't seen her in a while. I'm not sure why I just remembered this... perhaps it's the recent Valentine's Day, or maybe because people have started doing prom-posals at school...
Maybe I'll message her on instagram or something, but I don't know how I would start a conversation without it being weird... I am friends with one of her friends from school so maybe I can talk to her... but I think I'm a bit too introverted and socially anxious to make any moves... also it's been years since we've actually talked to each other so she could have changed a lot...
Maybe I should just get a crossroad fortune about this haha... (Junji Ito reference)
*hehe* | Feb. 18, 2023 (Sat) 03:58 | Post No. 3
This is going to be a short blog post. I just wanted to share a Michael Jackson themed website that I've been working on for one of my classes. As a class, we are making one big directory of different figures in Black History, hence why the "return to main page" button leads to a bare page. You'll probably recognize that the Michael Jackson holds a striking resemblance to this site... LOL. I definitely could have made it look a bit better, but we weren't given too much time to work on it and I have better things I could be doing (napping) instead of working on the site.
Silly Table | Feb. 13, 2023 (Mon) 13:47 | Post No. 2
Two blog posts in one day?! Lucky you! My friend Mia told me I should blog about this silly little table in our English classroom. The legs are all really loose and it wobbles at the slightest touch, but we still use this table as a footrest. I can't wait for the day that one of us rests our feet on the table and the legs give out.
Here's a picture of the desk on the right. As you can see, one of the legs is bent at a sharp angle. The other three legs all do that too, but they were just propped up straight for the photo.
We really should be treating the teacher's furniture with more respect, but the prospect of watching the desk collapse under one of our feet is just too funny! ૮⸝⸝> ̫ <⸝⸝ ა
Hello Internet! | Feb. 13, 2023 (Mon) 12:12 | Post No. 1
Hello Internet! This is my first ever blog post. I've been meaning to make a blog for a while, but held off because I wanted to customize my own website for it. Well, now that I've made my website, I figure I might as well start blogging. I probably won't get very many readers since I won't be promoting my blog, but I figure it will be a good place for me to write about my thoughts on everyday life. I suppose if people want to take a look into my brain this will be a great place to do so.Hmm... this wasn't a very interesting first post... but oh well, in the future I'll try to make my mundane life sound a bit more interesting.
